Balloon Care Tips – Help Your Balloons Last Longer!

We want your beautiful balloons to stay vibrant and float for as long as possible, so here's everything you need to know to get the best results:

  • Keep them indoors whenever possible – this is the ideal environment for maximum lifespan and safety.
  • Avoid direct sunlight at all costs — heat from the sun can cause balloons to expand rapidly and pop unexpectedly.
  • Steer clear of heat sources (like heaters, ovens, fireplaces, or hot cars) — the same expansion risk applies.
  • Watch out for air conditioning and cold drafts — especially with latex balloons, extreme cold can cause them to shrink, oxidize (develop a cloudy/frosted look), and lose float time much faster than they should.
  • Protect from sharp objects — keep balloons away from rough walls, furniture edges, scissors, pets, and anything pointy.
  • Supervise little ones — balloons are irresistible to kids (we get it!), but rough play like punching or sitting on them shortens their life dramatically. If a latex balloon bursts, promptly pick up and discard any broken pieces, especially around children under 3 years old, as small bits can pose a choking hazard if swallowed.

Transport tips (if you're picking up or moving them):

  • Ensure your car is cool (not hot from sitting in the sun) — pre-cool the interior if needed.
  • Make sure there's plenty of space — large garlands and bouquets take up more room than you might expect!
  • Clear out any sharp items to prevent accidental pops.

Quick delivery note for helium-filled latex balloons:

  • If they arrive in a bag, gently remove them right away so they can float freely and avoid any unnecessary pressure or heat buildup.
